Half-Day Cape Sounion
Cape Sounion, where the white marble pillars of theTemple of Poseidon stand guard over the Aegean.
Departing late afternoon for this half day tour we will be passing through some of Athens most beautiful suburbs (Glyfada,Vouliagmeni, Varkiza). Driving along this beautiful coastal road of Attica will take you to its most southerly spot to yet another impressive historical site, Cape Sounion, with the Sanctuary dedicated to Poseidon (5th Century B.C) the God of the Sea. High on the cliff, majestically overlooking the Aegean Sea, stand several Doric columns of the former Temple. One has a breathtaking view from here; on clear days, you can see several islands. The spot was ...is... and it will be an inspiration point for poets and all kind of Artists. After the guided visit to the Temple, there will be plenty of time for memorable photos from the site.
In the summer comfortable walking shoes, sun glasses, hat and loose fitted clothing are strongly recommended.
